Pocket PC Wireless Network Configuration
Step 1: Get a root certificate

  1. Place your PDA in its cradle.
  2. Browse to http://cert.okcu.edu/certsrv/. Enter your OCU username and password when prompted.
  3. Download CA Certificate, Certificate chain, or CRL (bottom link)
  4. CA Certificate: Current [StarNET]
    Download CA Certificate with the following encoding method: DER
  5. Download with Open file after download checked.
  6. Replace any existing StarNet certificate.
  7. When prompted “Do you want to install \My Documents\certnew.cer, a certificate issued by edu, okcu, StarNET?”, click Yes.

Step 2: Get your user certificate

  1. Place your PDA in its cradle.
  2. Use the Personal Certificate Enrollment application on your PDA:
    Enter your user name in the format: ocu\<username>
    Enter your password
    Enter the certificate server: n5aa11
  3. Click Retrieve

Step 3: Configure wireless settings

  1. Choose the General tab.
  2. Enter the Network Name or ESSID as “WLANuserOCU”.
    (NOTE: This value is case sensitive.)
  3. Select “Work” as the Connects to value.
  4. Uncheck “This is a device to device (ad hoc) connection”
  5. Choose the Network Key tab.
  6. Select “Open” as the Authentication method.
  7. Select “WEP” as the Data Encryption type.
  8. Choose the 802.1x tab.
  9. Check “Use IEEE 802.1x network”
  10. Select “Smart Card or Certificate” as the EAP type.
  11. Click the Properties button and verify that the above certificate is listed.
