Pocket PC Wireless Network Configuration
Step 1: Get a root certificate
- Place your PDA in its cradle.
- Browse to http://cert.okcu.edu/certsrv/. Enter your OCU username and password when prompted.
- Download CA Certificate, Certificate chain, or CRL (bottom link)
- CA Certificate: Current [StarNET]
Download CA Certificate with the following encoding method: DER
- Download with Open file after download checked.
- Replace any existing StarNet certificate.
- When prompted “Do you want to install \My Documents\certnew.cer, a certificate issued by edu, okcu, StarNET?”, click Yes.

Step 2: Get your user certificate
- Place your PDA in its cradle.
- Use the Personal Certificate Enrollment application on your PDA:
Enter your user name in the format: ocu\<username>
Enter your password
Enter the certificate server: n5aa11
- Click Retrieve

Step 3: Configure wireless settings
- Choose the General tab.
- Enter the Network Name or ESSID as “WLANuserOCU”.
(NOTE: This value is case sensitive.)
- Select “Work” as the Connects to value.
- Uncheck “This is a device to device (ad hoc) connection”
- Choose the Network Key tab.
- Select “Open” as the Authentication method.
- Select “WEP” as the Data Encryption type.
- Choose the 802.1x tab.
- Check “Use IEEE 802.1x network”
- Select “Smart Card or Certificate” as the EAP type.
- Click the Properties button and verify that the above certificate is listed.
